Paperless Operational Workflow Electronic Routing (POWER)
PBSI believes that technology, second only to people, is our greatest tool.
As experts in transaction processing we are enhancing our proven and
successful processes by deploying an innovative electronic workflow tool known
as the Paperless Operational Workflow Electronic Routing (POWER) system.
POWER is a rules-based electronic workflow, document repository, and database
that blend operations processing into a seamless virtual workload interface.
Moreover, POWER provides the ability for enhanced program management. POWER is a
product of PBSI ingenuity and technical prowess that is developed for our
current contracts.
POWER has five main attributes that streamline repetitive tasks into an
automated tool that adds speed, consistency, and accuracy to daily task
processing:
- Electronic Workflow—Browser interface, automated routing based on barcodes,
rules-based workflow; users
move records through the workflow; user-defined work queues; server
application; all queue movement and field content changes are audited
- Image Management—Scan paper documents into the database providing
instant access by any authorized reader any place in the POWER system. This is
the core of our virtual office.
- Document Repository—Document sources include (but are not limited to):
existing document repository (FileNet), user upload into system, email into
system using scanner, or internal mail. Additional notes and supporting
information (such as faxes, email, screen captures, and other items) can also
be attached to the record.
- Database—Business rules define the fields; uses any SQL compliant
database; values follow workflow records; fields can be dynamically added
without database or coding changes
- External Connectivity—Secure connection to mainframe or web
applications; does not replicate or negate mainframe business rules or edits;
simultaneously display multiple mainframe screens
PBSI developed POWER to reduce error rates, increase throughput, support the
integration of Part A and Part B processing functions, and reduce the overall
processing cost for Medicare workloads. POWER interacts with the Fiscal
Intermediary Shared System (FISS) and the Multi-Carrier System (MCS) to
streamlines data access, entry, extraction, and storage, and automates routine
transaction processing tasks.
